A small memory from haute couture fashion week in Paris in January when I had the pleasure to cover the spring/summer 2013 couture show from Elie Saab. The collection was called “An Ode to Delicateness”.
As described in the press release, Elie Saab paid homage to the” fragile elegance.” It was a collection full of delightful dresses with impressive details made with lace and embroideries with beads and glittering sequins.
Light transparency and Elie Saab’s use of mostly creamy white and soft pastels made the garments look almost like a second skin.
As a contrast to the silky pastels, a few silhouettes had a stronger expression color-wise as they were created in powerful red and shining black, but they retained their fragile softness because of the soft silk and the embroideries.
The shows finale was an overwhelming wedding dress in champagne colored lace and and playing with volume.
It was a collection full of grace and refinement!

Hakaan presented an autumn /winter 2013 collection during Paris Fashion Week for powerful and sophisticated women.
The collection featured short bustier dresses, short soft and light silk dresses with patterns cut within the fabric in both white and black. As a contrast to the light silk dresses the collection offered extravagant fur jackets and rough leather biker jackets. The models were styled with sophisticated black leather boots - a must have fashion accessory for next autumn.
The color gamut was kept very minimalist consisting of black, white and red, which accentuated the beautiful details in the craftsmanship, pattern cuttings, and embroideries and applications. Interesting contrasts in fabrics occurred when light soft and transparent silks were combined with fur and leather.
Designer Yildirim Hakaan has a true understanding for pattern cutting and his fashion show really showed his talent for making the body look its best.
